One shot Final Film

We started off by again deciding the basic storyline and what the main idea would be. we quickly decided after a few ideas had been thrown around that we would do a scene again using the camera as a person and the story line was he had an essay to do and his flatmates kept interrupting him because they wanted him t go out.
as a group we decided were we would film and who did what, i was a bit disjointed that we couldn't all have a go at filming but i understood that the way we wanted to do it that would have been impossible especially as its a one shot film as well.
i really also didn't want to be in it but as it was a group task i offered myself anyway.

we wrote down a pointers list as to what order things would happen and then gave one to each person in the film so they knew what was going on and when, when it was being filmed... that made it all easier.

  • looking at screen (computer)
  • title for essay
  • flickering through book
  • starts typing sentence
  • cancels it out
  • looks at book again (looks at clock)
  • (music starts playing before looks at book)
  • one person comes in hold door
  • asks him to come out
  • tells him he has an essay to do
  • boy leaves room
  • (still hear chatter and music)
  • back to computer screen
  • starts typing
  • gets message alert from same boy who asked him to come out
  • looks back at clock
  • msn beeps up
  • looks at phone, phone rings + text alerts
  • about to start typing again
  • couple of people barge in (more drunk)
  • ask him about going out again and to come and do shots
  • they shut his laptop
  • after they go out he looks at clock
  • group come in with a bottle and a shot for him
  • someone is sick
  • looks at everyone
  • takes the bottle off a boy and has a drink, as in 'stuff it il go out'
when i have uploaded the video you can clearly see the changes made when we were actually filming it it became apparent certain things worked better in different ways.
the main thing that we originally wanted to do was to speed up the clock every time he looked at it, we found that editing it would be to hard, and trying to change it in between clips would also be to hard due to the noise it made and trying to get someone to change it in such a Short space of time.
we also left out a few things to help us fit more to the time limit. it took about 12 takes.

the main thing i did in the group was write everything down and then also be in the video, and i was the organiser for when people went into the room and out of the room during filming. i said before i would have loved to do more the filming side of it.

the video was OK just wasn't my cup of tea really, i would have liked to do something really quirky and different if it wasn't a group project. the idea for the voices inside the head was one of mine which i had got from one of the videos i had researched and i think it works well and helps the viewer engage with what is going on and what the person is actually thinking, as if you were them.
